The Ultra decanter impresses with its classic design and is perfect for every occasion. The elongated neck and low, wide body of this decanter renders it perfect for allowing the sediments to settle, while it also exposes the wine to more oxygen, which opens up the bouquet and encourages full development.
Made in Austria by the world's most renowned wineglass maker, Riedel Crystal, founded in 1756, this classic decanter is blown from 24 percent lead crystal. (1-1/2 liters), perfect for one or two bottles of red wine. While the most common use of a decanter is to prevent sediment in an aged red wine from spoiling the wine's clarity and brilliance, some authorities also recommend decanting young red wines to give them the opportunity to bloom. In either case, this spectacular decanter brings a breathtaking elegance to the dinner table. Standing 8.25" high on a 9.25"diameter base, its proportions are as perfect as the crystal. Riedel crystal is used by fine restaurants all over the world and thus must stand up to frequent trips through a dishwasher. But because lead crystal has a soft surface, Riedel recommends this decanter be hand washed. --Fred Brack
